Long Time No Play Along

One of my goals this year was to play along with Freshly Made Sketches.  I just wanted to get in my craft room and if nothing came from it at least I practiced.

Then the flu kicked my butt! My husband was out among people and got hit bad which in turn meant it hit me! I haven't been that sick in yearssssssss.
Anyhow I had to play catch up on everything and I think I can start over again!!

I don't have the funds for Copic markers ... if I thought I'd be able to even begin to use them well I might think about saving up, however, I did buy Arteza brush pens. I have nothing to compare them to, but I LOVE them!!! (You can see some of my attempted shading in the lilypads!) That's what I used on my card for this week. Keep in mind I'm learning!!! :)

Here is the sketch this week at https://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

Here is what I came up with:

I just thought they were super cute! Honestly who can resist Duck Butt?!?

Well Happy Spring Everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!! I managed to make cards the week both of my kids got married but somehow didn't find time during the holidays! I hope to play along this year as much as possible!

This is something I worked on. My husband said with the kids being married now they don't need piles of gifts we stopped getting tons of stuff after we got married LOL plus we just paid for a wedding and a honeymoon!!! So we tried to make it cute!

Our normal is wrapping gifts one paper per kid and write tiny, tiny numbers on them somewhere then I tell them a number to find and open. These snowmen had their names on the buttons and the stick hands held their "couples gift".

Your only here for the Freshly Made Sketch of the week  So I'll stop babbling :)

Here is this weeks sketch:
Here is my take and I'll admit it is last minute and quickly done!

You're knot that old!

Until next week

Jingle Bells

Christmas is coming so fast! My Grandpa always told me the older you get the faster time goes but I never expected this fast!!!!

My babies are grown adults ... married ... houses of their own. My husband & I still feel way to young for all of that!!

Anyhow it will be here soon (I need to survive my birthday first lol some days I feel like I'm strolling down the hill and others I feel like I was kicked "over the hill")

I'm going with jingle bells for this card! This weeks challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches  is:

Here is my take on it:
Have a wonderful day thanks for stopping by!

Snowy Bench

My Christmas cards have been done since October! However, with Christmas on my mind I made a new one for the challenge over at freshlymadesketches
The card is just the white part I put it on a piece of red just for the photo. Speaking of photo, it does the bench picture no justice!! I tried to get a close up but the light kept showing ugh the glitter is so, so pretty!
The sketch this week:

I guess I failed again this week lol I did more of a square than rectangle. That's ok it got me in my room and it has been a couple of days.

I hope you all have your December plans under control ... if you do I'd love to know your secret!!! So much going on this month!!

Until next week,

Off they go!

My son and his new wife left today for their 2 week cruise honeymoon! They had to wait for football to be over. He coaches high school football.  I hope they have beautiful weather.
I went out and had lunch with a friend I haven't seen in over a year so that was nice. When I got home I played in my craft room.  I made a pop up box card I saw in a video super cute. I said last week I'd post a picture of my husbands birthday card but it got tossed before I remembered (I tossed it) he says I don't make him fancy cards I told him that's because they take a lot of time to just see you look at it and then I throw it away!! I made a cute pyramid card with magnets to hold it upright ... it was different!
Sooooo anyhow here is my card for this week at freshlymadesketches

The black background makes it look super crooked oh well that's it lol

Paper paper paper

I sadly missed last week somehow. I managed to get a card made when it was my kids weddings but this past week I don't even know, just didn't happen somehow.
So I'm back at it this week!!

Sketch for this week at freshlymadesketches is :

So I tried stamping with distressed ink ... I'd say fail but I think if I practice it might work out and I'd have a lot more color options!!
I used foil for the stripe on the right.

These are some of the other things I've made this week!!

Candy Christmas train!! Just need to add the candy! This is my version from MixedUpCraft on YouTube. I LOVE her tutorials and while this isn't as fancy/nice as hers I'm just proud of myself for making it!!

This one I made to send to my son's best friend. I have a photo of him holding her daughter eating a Kit Kat that was just too cute I had to mail it to her in TN.

This is a terrible photo but I took a quick picture to show a friend, ok ask her opinion lol, but then sent it out and never took a decent picture. I sent this to my Aunt with some wedding pictures in it!!

I also made a birthday card for husband! I'll share that next week!

Ok I guess that's all ...I think this is my longest post yet hope you made it to the bottom :)

Until next week,
~S

"Keep it"

Another week another card!
We have gotten some bad news both family and a friend this week. I thought I'd send this to my friend and on the inside say "Keep it!" and write a nice note to her.  She is one of my most favorite people to send cards to because she just truly appreciates it. She says I always know when she needs a smile.

Here is the sketch for this week:

Here is my submission:

It was pretty difficult to get a photo with the embossing powder on both the gold & black so I put it on the easel and did the best I could lol. My 2 left side pieces are a little off from the sketch but I thought it looked better in that small blank space.

So until next week ... "Keep it"

Weddings are OVER!

Well we survived the 2 weddings in ONE week of our two children!!!! Both were just amazing days and absolutely worth all the stress!!!! But so happy they are over LOL
Back to normal & boring is just what the doctor ordered!!!

This weeks sketch stumped me ... the others I had an idea pop in my head right away ... this one not so much. Could have something to do with my scrambled brain!!! This is what I came up with tho.

Here is the link for this weeks challenge FMS 360
Here is the link to the challenge page in general http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

The sketch for the week was this:

The card I came up with was this:

Bride & Groom

Here comes the bride & the groom!
One wedding down one to go this weekend! Both of my children are going to be newlyweds this month!!
My beautiful daughter got married on October 12th and my handsome son will be married on October 21st!

Playing along with Freshly Made Sketches this week I thought this would be cute, however, I'm not sure it fits their clean card requirement. It does go with the sketch so I'm posting it!

Sketch for this week:

Challenge for myself: Cricut access... I never go in there & to use scraps I hoard and never touch!! Both accomplished! Background paper is a pad I got at WalMart and has been great for backgrounds IMO :)

Here is my card:

Spread love ❤
Until Next Week!

Annnd THIS is what I came up with ;)

Week 4 for me playing at Freshly Made Sketches. While not many people see what I'm doing it's still fun to try to play along.

The sketch this week:

Seeing as how I finished my Christmas cards (previous post) this past week I'm pretty Christmased out! So I thought flowers... sunflowers.... no maybe some fancy flowers. I really don't know. So as I thought about it for awhile I got laundry going and yup there it was, my lightbulb!! Hadn't used this stamp yet and thought fun ... way more fun than the actual laundry I was doing! I hope it fits the sketch for this week and if not it's still kinda cute!  Oh and in case my line doesn't make sense on the inside, it is a simple attempt at a clothesline LOL
If your reading this thanks for stopping by!

Here it is:

Until next week .... I'll just be going crazy with my 2 kids getting married this week & next!
Enjoy your day!

Merry Christmas in October!
I finished my Christmas cards today all that's left to do is sign them and address them annnnnd actually get them in the mail box in December!
As far as I know I came up with this card myself I didn't copy anything except I saw the three score lines on a card somewhere one day.

Overhead view of all of them

One of the card fronts

Inside of the card

Back of the card

I thought they came out kind of cute! The little ornament dangles on some clear thread from his antler! Different designs on the moose using up paper I had!
It was the first time I've used foiling. I attached it on the front of the card.

Tip: if you have a heat press it works great! 300° heavy pressure about 5 seconds.

Until next time,

Happy Fall!

This was probably a bad time of year to start a blog! Going in my craft room has been a good distraction however!
This is my third week playing along with Freshly Made Sketches!
 http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

Their sketch this week:
I went with a fall look! It's funny I've always considered myself a summer girl but I love the fall colors!  Here is my submission ... flower props and all!
This was my second time using the alcohol lift ink pad. In person it is actually very pretty!! I have some super bright lights in my craft room!
I hope you all have a wonderful fall season!
Until next week,

Try Try Again!

Another week another challenge!!
I saw the sketch for this week and immediately had a picture pop in my head of exactly what I wanted to do!! Yeah, that didn't work out lol can I just say my trash can is not hungry!!
For some reason I saw the saying, "Live Laugh Love" and thought perfect! I guess the 3 spaces on the sketch spoke to my head but my hands said yeah not today! Then I decided I wanted to use a new stamp I got recently and I kept playing with it until I ended up with this card! Again many papers went in the trash! It isn't perfect but ... I've never been able to do perfect!

So here is this weeks sketch:
http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/

If you are here you probably already know about this site. If for some reason you stumbled across my site, and make cards, please go visit.  There are so many beautiful cards!!

OK enough babbling here is my card for this week!!

Until next time,

Crafty Retail Therapy

So today a girlfriend & I did a little shopping!!
Everything was on sale or we used coupons and we did pretty good I think. Our last few shopping trips we just wandered and didn't find anything.
So which of these things doesn't belong in a craft haul? You guessed it The Monster at the end of this book!!! This was one of my favorite books to read to my kids when they were littles. Both of them are getting married next month and I can't wait for them to start trying for my grandbabies!!! So when I saw this at Michael's I HAD to buy it!!! I mean what if they don't have it when I need it?!
So anyhow, I got some white cardstock to try and I've always wanted a snow pen so grabbed that up soon as I saw it! The alcohol lift ink pad, well that shocked us that it was in the store so got that baby for $2.40 I don't know why but I thought it was going to be super expensive. (I'm a cheap shopper lol today's adventure I only spent $35.02 )
So it was a fun day with my friend!!! I talked her ear off and we shopped and shopped!! Took some time to gobble up some pizza too! We did our normal run Michael's, Tuesday Morning, Joann's, AC Moore and finished up at Hobby Lobby!!!!
I can't wait to do it again!!

Craft Comfort Zone?

So here is the reason I started this blog.
I saw a blog that had card challenges every week. I still consider myself new even tho I have been playing around with this stuff off & on for awhile. I thought if I joined the challenge, 1. I would actually "practice".  2. It would bring me out of my comfort zone because I NEVER think anything I make is good enough for someone else. They have it set up to share from a blog so thus the blog.  I hope I'll keep trying after this very first attempt! It was actually a lot harder than I thought. I had an idea in my head and that didn't come out of my hands! Seeing the examples I'm back to thinking my stuff is crap!
Do YOU venture out of your comfort zone?

So here goes nothing!

Here is the site and sketch given for the week! (Hope I do this correctly)

Here is my simple card!

Sequins are a prop right?! LOL

Birthday Card

This is a little card I made for a friend that lives in Nebraska, for her birthday. I have almost no experience coloring with colored pencils ... as an adult ... it really isn't the same coloring as an adult as when your a kid!! As a kid I colored ALL the time I thought I'd be good at it .. yeah not so much! Anyhow, I had some cards laying around from trying that whole one sheet wonder people talk about so I took my elephant and stuck him on one!! Shoved it in the mail today before I changed my mind!!! Points for trying right?!
